Five Points Landing Park unveils new mural celebrating Milford’s history

Residents honor America's 250th birthday

Milford – Gray November skies could not dim the enthusiasm at Five Points Landing Park, where residents and local leaders turned out for the unveiling of a new mural capturing centuries of Milford history.

The project, created by local artist Kate Albert, spans several aluminum panels in a high-quality screen-printed format. The piece captures Milford’s evolving landscape over the centuries and serves as a visual tribute to the region’s growth. Albert said the inspiration for the mural came directly from the Milford community and honors the ongoing nationwide America 250 commemoration.

The event, hosted by Igniting Connection, took place at 527 Lila Avenue and drew a large crowd despite the overcast and cold weather. The ceremony opened with a soothing rendition of “America the Beautiful” performed by Chromatix, a Clermont County vocal ensemble.

Local officials, including Milford Mayor Lisa Evans and Ohio District 62 Rep. Jean Schmidt, praised the mural’s role in celebrating both Milford’s growth and the spirit of community that continues to define the region.

“I am fortunate enough to have been raised in this beautiful community,” Schmidt said. “I remember when these towns were very small and very rural, and what is beautiful about our community is that we kept that rural flavor, and now we are very urban, vibrant cities.”

Clermont County Commissioner David Painter presented a proclamation recognizing the mural and Milford’s participation in the America 250 initiative.

“The history of America is our history. This painting is Milford’s history [...] your history has been communicated to all 88 counties throughout Ohio.” Painter said, “It would not surprise me if [Clermont County] was recognized as one of the top performing counties in the entire United States.”

Albert reflected on the story behind the project, which is her third commissioned piece for Clermont County within two years. She expressed gratitude for the community partnerships that helped bring it to life.

“This whole whirlwind started back in January or February of 2024,” she said. “I was passing Andrea Brady [of Milford Miami Township Chamber of Commerce] at 20 Brix restaurant, and she said, ‘Hey, I’ve got a project you might be interested in.’ Ever since then, life has been wonderful and chaotic […] so many meetings and so many cups of coffee, and maybe a little bit of wine in there, but it was all worth it because now we have this great piece of art that we can all share and enjoy and be proud of together.”
