Free summer camp starting June 1

Posted

Families looking for affordable summer opportunities for their children can take advantage of a free summer camp program funded by the Clermont County Mental Health & Recovery Board and Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCBHS). This seven-week program provides local youth with fun activities and mentorship throughout the summer.

As residents across Clermont County begin to plan their summer vacations and outdoor events, it can be challenging to find affordable summer camp opportunities for school-aged children.

Fortunately, GCBHS makes it possible for any child to attend free, fun, and educational summer activities within their own neighborhoods.

Free afternoon summer camp begins on June 1 in Goshen and Batavia. The Amelia and Milford programs start on June 8. Members of GCBHS designed their camp programs to be safe and engaging, with an emphasis on outdoor games, arts & crafts, team-building activities, and nutritious snacks.

Camp-goers will earn points based on their teamwork, skill, and engagement throughout the summer. They can use these points to earn fun prizes at the end of the program. Beyond these rewards, children will also build long-lasting friendships and social skills that they can apply throughout their youth.

GCBHS does not require registration for this event. Parents can arrive on-site the day of the program. A team of qualified and experienced behavioral health chaperones will lead and monitor events throughout the day.

Note: In the event of rain, the program will resume the next day.
