What’s next for Content Creator graduates?

The Content Creators Academy’s spring semester may be over, but life doesn’t slow down for its graduates. Caitlin Chandler sat down with Good Day Clermont! to discuss what’s next for her career. She also talked about why the Content Creators Conference was important in her success as a student.

Chandler is a Williamsburg High School alumna who finished 11th in her class. Over the course of her high school career, she participated in soccer, basketball, track, and cross-country, took the College Credit Prep course, and held multiple internships. Needless to say, she has been very busy.

The Content Creators Academy, a program designed to help students discover and develop career readiness skills, was in its earliest phase when Chandler joined. She told Good Day Clermont! that the course offered a convenient way to prepare for graduation around her other activities.

“I was taking a lot of college classes at the time,” Chandler said, “having [the Content Creators Academy] from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. every Thursday was nice. You joined a Zoom meeting, you didn’t have to go anywhere, and I was still able to be at school.”

The Content Creators Academy did offer students the opportunity to participate in field trips on occasion. Chandler joined the trip to FOX19 station, where she got a glimpse of the broadcasting industry. “We talked about it for months after. It was so cool,” she said.

Chandler talked about how the Content Creators Academy opened new doors to careers she never even considered.

As a graduate, Chandler will be moving on to a major in Media Production and a minor in Marketing at the University of Cincinnati.

She reflected on some of the skills she learned throughout her high school career. After tearing both of her ACLs, Chandler began working as the school’s athletic communicator to continue supporting her teammates in new ways. In that role, she was primarily responsible for designing materials for students and parents on upcoming games, rosters, and athletic data, and even creating hype videos for the school. She was able to apply those skills in the Content Creators Academy to complete various real-world tasks assigned by the leadership.

When discussing her interest in design, Chandler spoke of an innate “spark” she felt while brainstorming ideas. She can envision the designs she wants to create from the inspiration of a simple photograph or tagline. She accepted that her past injuries might prevent her from continuing athletics after graduation, so instead she leaned into her spark to pursue the digital media skills she has worked just as hard to develop.

“It goes by fast,” Chandler said about her high school years. “There are moments where you don’t want to get up, but every moment matters.”

When asked about one of the most important takeaways from her experience as a student preparing for college and beyond, Chandler wisely stated the importance of networking. “Talking to someone can build your reputation,” she said. “The name that you build yourself matters.”

Chandler begins her next phase of life in the fall, when she joins the University of Cincinnati. Students who succeed her will have an opportunity to participate in the Content Creators Academy in the next few months. Connect Clermont will post more information as application season draws near.
